Representatives of the opposition of the Parliament require the Parliament to take active measures to support the military forces of Ukraine. Members of the Conservative Party of Canada made a proposal to transfer a batch of lethal arms worth $ 9.5 million. That was told by James Bezan, the deputy of the House of Commons of Canada, RBC-UKRAINE reports.
According to Bezan, Canada can transfer to Ukraine such arms as sniper rifles and rear sights to them, C6 machine guns, Carl Gustav recoilless rifles, mortars, night vision devices and some medical supplies.
“Weakness provokes Putin. And while Ukraine will not have enough weapons to protect its borders – Putin will continue to press,” – the parliamentarian stressed.
He added that the presence of lethal weapons in Ukraine will force Putin to withdraw his forces from the territory of the Donbass. Bezan noted that thanks to the UNIFER mission, in which more than 200 Canadian employees work in the territory of Ukraine, Ukrainian servicemen, in particular snipers, doctors and combat engineers, are trained now. More than 7,000 specialists among Ukrainian servicemen were trained for 3 years of the mission.
“We are preparing them for any operations that they may encounter, including in the Donbass. First of all, we teach them how to improve ability to survive on the battlefield. The Ukrainian Armed Forces want to be compatible with the armies of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) until 2020. We are here to bring them closer to this goal,” – Bezan said.
