The bill on raising fines for driving without a seat belt has already been registered in the Verkhovna Rada. On the initiative of 25 people's deputies it is proposed to raise the fine to 850 UAH.
The bill No. 8492 “On Amendments to Article 121 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (concerning the reduction of death rates and injuries on the roads of Ukraine by increasing the level of use of seat belts and helmets)” was registered on June 18. This is reported by Vesti.
“Today, the fine for ignoring the safety belt in Ukraine is only 51 UAH. The scant punishment motivates drivers and passengers to violate traffic rules and neglect their own safety,” – the Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law said, whose activists also initiated the bill under the campaign called “For Safe Roads”.
