After the decision of the Stockholm arbitration court “Gazprom” stated that it plans to proceed to the termination of contracts for the supply and transit of gas with the National Joint Stock Company “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, as it was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
Alexey Miller, the chief executive officer of Gazprom stated: “The Stockholm arbitration court, guided by double standards, adopted an asymmetric decision on contracts for the supply and transit of gas with Naftogaz of Ukraine. Thus, the arbitration decision significantly violated the balance of interests of the parties under these contracts.”
“The arbitrators based their decision by a sharp deterioration of the Ukrainian economy. We are categorically opposed to Ukraine's economic problems being solved at our expense. In such a situation, the continuation of contracts for Gazprom is economically inefficient and unprofitable,” – he said.
"Gazprom" is forced to immediately begin the procedure for the termination of contracts for the supply and transit of gas with “Naftogaz of Ukraine” bin the Stockholm Arbitration,” – he said.
We recall that “Naftogaz” won a court case against “Gazprom” in gas transit.
