Andrei Zolotarev, Ukrainian political scientist, said that the government would use all possible methods to try to reduce the number of residents who receive subsidies. The subsidies necessary to prevent an explosion of public anger among Ukrainians greatly undermine the economy. He stated this on the air of the NEWSONE television channel.
“The introduction of subsidies helped to prevent a riot and an explosion of public anger among the Ukrainian society. Such a threat did exist against the backdrop of constantly rising tariffs,” – Zolotarev said.
According to the political scientist, the Ukrainian budget is not prepared for such expenses and cannot cover all subsidies. That is why the government of the country faces the task of reducing the number of people receiving subsidies.
Zolotarev stressed that about 60% of the population of Ukraine received subsidies. Under the current economic conditions, this number will be reduced to 40%.
