Vladimir Groysman, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, instructed the leadership of “Ukrzaliznytsia” (Railway Transport of Ukraine) to increase the number of trains in the Mariupol direction by the end of 2018, thereby improving the rail operation with the city. This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

“I see the initiatives of Ukrzaliznytsia. This is normal, but we need to continue to work to make the situation better,” – Groysman said after meeting with Evgeny Kravtsov, the acting chairman of the board of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

So, the number of pairs of trains should increase to 26-28 per day, and the travel time will be shortened.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, work is underway to expand the transfer capacity of the region. Thanks to the actions already carried out, the majority of the enterprises of Mariupol and nearby settlements switched to the railway as the main way of delivery of products. Thus, the load on local roads is reduced.

Until the end of the year the state company plans to purchase and update at least 200 passenger compartments.

“In 3-5 years it is necessary to show a new quality of the railway for passengers,” – the prime minister said.
