It is planned to spend 15 billion UAH to create a helicopter police in Ukraine.
That was reported by Ivan Varchenko, the adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Segodnya writes.
As you know, at the beginning of the year, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police informed of the launch of a large helicopter project, which is being implemented by Ukrainian security officials together with their French colleagues. Within two or three years, Ukraine will receive the whole batch of helicopters.
“Now a special unit is being formed in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which will manage this helicopter service. By the way, this service, or rather, the helicopters received, will be used for the needs of the police, border guards and rescuers. For each type of operation there will be a certain type of helicopter. Some will be involved in the evacuation of people and other assistance in emergency situations, others – for patrolling the territory or for duty on a certain site. In addition, in the work of the police, the helicopters will be involved in special operations to combat crime – to identify and prosecute violators of the law,” – Varchenko said.
He also added that the helicopters would be used to monitor the situation on the state border of Ukraine.
According to Varchenko, for each helicopter there will be a crew of 2-3 people, it total – 150-200 pilots will be involved in this service. They will be trained to provide air support to patrol police, convoy divisions and police prevention. The ranks of helicopter pilots will accept those who already have flight experience.
According to international experience, the helicopter crew works in a team with ground police officers – the latter is informed about the route of criminals, and they block traffic on the right streets. As a rule, with the air support, the pursuit of a car ends 30-40 minutes later in favor of the police.
