In Yakutsk, during the cargo plane take-off, an accident occurred. As a result, its cargo – gold and silver bars fell apart on the flight strip and in the area of the airfield. This is reported by Interfax.

Precious metals were mined in the Kupol deposit, owned by Chukotka Mining and Geological Company, a subsidiary of Kinross Gold Corporation in Canada.

During take-off, the cargo hatch was torn off, and due to this, part of the cargo began to fall overboard. In total there were 9 tons of precious metals on the board. The transportation was carried out by LLC Coordination Center for Air Transportation.

“Fortunately, the crew and passengers of the plane (there were 9 of them) were not injured. The plane landed. The bars were soon gathered,” – Stanislav Bordyuk, the head of the Russian representative office of Kinross Gold said.

He also added that an investigation would soon be carried out, in which the airline would also take part.

We recall that Kinross Gold Corporation takes place in the top ten gold mining companies of the planet. The enterprises of the corporation are engaged in mining in Brazil, Ghana, Chile, Russia, Mauritania and the USA.
