The answer to this question can be found in the Museum of Local History of Konstantinovka.
In the Museum of Local History of Konstantinovka there is a unique traveling exhibition, which tells about the history of European investments in the development of the industrial potential of the Krivoy Rog-Donetsk basin. The research “International investment in Ukraine from the late XIX – early XX century. Part Two – France” complement the first exhibition from this cycle, telling about the Belgian past of Konstantinovka.
The current exposition is dedicated to the history of French investments in the Ukrainian economy in the pre-revolutionary period. It is represented by the Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History within the framework of the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center project “Museum is opened for repairs”.
- "It is important now to understand that in the pre-revolutionary period our region developed thanks to the investments of Europeans. Even then Europe was built in our region," – Igor Bredikhin, historian, says. - Such exhibitions should be shown in all cities of the Donbass, so that we are more aware of our history."
One can see almost 230 historical documents and events of 1870-1918 on the banners. Among the unique documents are shares issued in Paris, photos of mines and factories, autographs of French entrepreneurs on securities.
On the opening day of the exhibition, its authors – experts of the Dnipropetrovsk National Historical Museum named after D.I. Yavornytsky Valentine Lazebnik and Yuri Malienko arrived there. And also philanthropist Dmitry Pirkl arrived there. It was he who bought shares and documents of that period for the museum. They became the basis of the exhibition.
