The incident occurred on June 14 in the village of Pikuzy in the Volnovakha district of the Donetsk region. The monitors of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the OSCE came under fire from small arms.

According to the SMM staff members, on June 14 at 14:03, athe OSCE monitors team of eight people was in the village of Pikuzy in the Volnovakha district. They stopped at the intersection of roads T-0519 and C-051235 (23 km northeast of Mariupol) in order to fix the fresh traces on the asphalt, which belonged to an armored fighting vehicle, according to their estimates.
One of the monitors left the car, after which two short bursts of small arms were heard nearby. At the same time, another SMM monitor who was in the car, noticed two people in military uniform. It is noted that they were south of the road, at a distance of about 50 meters.
One of them fired several shots at the group of monitors, and then fired one cartridge into the air. Both men fled immediately after that.
“According to the mission’s estimates, the fire was of a warning nature in order to force monitors to leave the area. The SMM patrol immediately left and returned safely to the base in Mariupol,” – the OSCE press service said.
