The heads of the two states discussed the issue concerning the release of Ukrainian prisoners by telephone.

That was reported today by the press service of the Ukrainian President.

It is noted that Poroshenko paid attention to the hunger strike of Ukrainians and expressed concern regarding the deterioration of their health.

In addition, the parties agreed on the visit of prisoners by the Ombudsmen of Ukraine and Russia.

“We agreed that both countries’ ombudsmen would visit the prisoners in the near future”, - the report says.

The Kremlin said that the conversation took place on the initiative of the Ukrainian side.

“They discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine and the progress of the Minsk “Range of measures”, including the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers of countries in the “Norman format” in Berlin on June 11”, – the press-service of the President of the Russian Federation reported.

In addition, Putin stressed the need for immediate release of Russian journalists arrested in Ukraine.
