The European Union extended sanctions against the Russian Federation for the annexation of the Crimea until September 15, 2018. Limited measures apply to 150 citizens and 38 companies from Russia. This is stated in announce of the EU Council, published yesterday.

“The EU Council has extended measures for another six months for actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine”.

It is noted that the assessment of the situation did not justify a change in the sanctions regime.

“Other EU measures in response to the crisis of Ukraine include: economic sanctions aimed at specific sectors of the Russian economy, which currently in force until July 31, 2018; restrictive measures in response to the illegal annexation of the Crimea and Sevastopol, limited to the territory of the Crimea and Sevastopol, currently in force until June 23, 2018.”

Earlier, the US Treasury Secretary also announced new sanctions against the Russian Federation.

Not so long ago, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine proposed restricting the use of foreign software.
