There is no diagnosis of “vegetative-vascular dystonia” (angioneurosis, further – AVI) in international medicine. This was reported on the Facebook page by Ulyana Suprun, the Acting Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine.

Suprun noted that such a disease – an autonomic nervous system dysfunction, neuro-circulatory dystonia is a great Soviet myth which was born in the absence of access to the source of evidentiary medicine.

In the opinion of the Acting Minister of Healthcare, such a disease does not arise by itself and is a consequence of another disease. This disease needs to be identified and treated. According to Uliana Suprun, the symptoms in which the AVI is diagnosed can also indicate several different diseases that are important to detect after a series of studies.

So, if the doctor's appointment comes with these symptoms, it means only one thing – the patient needs a follow-up examination, which will help find the real cause of the disease.

Then, Uliana Suprun provided a list of additional methods of examination that need to be done to the patient in order to reveal the true cause of the AVI. Such as a general blood and urine tests, biochemical blood test, ECG, sometimes – 24-hour ECG monitoring or echo-cardiography, if necessary, ultrasound of the abdominal cavity, chest X-ray.

In some cases, the patient may need a magnetic resonance tomography (MRT) of the brain, an advisory of a cardiologist, a gastroenterologist, an endocrinologist, a neurologist. And if objectively there are no grounds to consider the patient as a sick, but he continues to complain – then it is worth referring him to a psychologist or psychiatrist.
