On Tuesday, May 8, the Permanent Representatives Committee of 28 member states of the European Union (Coreper) will consider additional sanctions against Russia in connection with the Russian presidential elections in the Crimea.

This is evidenced by the agenda of the upcoming meeting, published on the website of the Council of the European Union.

“Restrictive measures against actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine – new lists”, – that is the name of one of the documents associated with the meeting.

The committee intends to consider the introduction of new positions in the list of sanctions due to the presidential elections in the Crimea and Sevastopol. If the permanent representatives of the EU member states agree on the imposition of new sanctions on Russia, then their decision should then be approved by the EU Council.

As you know, it is planned to continue sanctions against the Russian Federation in the United States of America in the event of Russia's interference in the upcoming elections in Ukraine.
