Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine with Angela Merkel, the German Federal Chancellor and Emmanuel Macron, the French President discussed the release of Ukrainian prisoners in territories beyond Kiev's control. The President told about this after the negotiations.
“Of course, we discussed humanitarian components, including those hostages held in the occupied territory, including Ukrainian military and political prisoners unlawfully retained in Russia. The last names were clearly mentioned,” – Poroshenko said.
According to UNN, on May 4, during the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group, the Ukrainian side again confirmed that they were ready to exchange 23 Russian citizens for the release of Ukrainian political prisoners.
