At the moment, 24 Ukrainian citizens are confined in the Russian Federation as political prisoners on various charges. Another 40 people are in the occupied Crimea.
At the moment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine demands the release of all political prisoners confined in Russia.
“At least 24 Ukrainians are political prisoners in Russia; more than 40 are in the occupied Crimea. Yet again, we demand that the Russian Federation release prisoners,” – Mariana Betsa said on her Twitter.
Earlier, representatives of the United States of America called on the Russian Federation to release Oleg Sentsov and two other Ukrainian political prisoners. “The United States, together with Oleg Sentsov, urges Russia to immediately release all Ukrainian political prisoners,” – Heather Neuert, spokesperson for the United States Department, said.
