Yevgeny Kravtsov, acting head of Ukrzaliznytsia, announced on the air of Radio Svoboda, that Ukrzaliznytsia will receive new locomotives by General Electric before the end of 2018.
“One of the decisions was a strategic partnership with the American General Electric, which we started at the beginning of this year, and we are already planning to get the first 30 locomotives by the end of this year,” – Kravtsov said.
Thus, Ukraine will be able to compensate the loss of production capacity of the Luganskteplovoz Company, which is currently located on a temporarily uncontrolled territory.
Kravtsov also said that the loss of Luganskteplovoz is catastrophic for the transport sector of the country. The plant was a key enterprise not only in the production sector, but also in the overhaul cycle of diesel locomotives. Over the past few years, the transport sector has significantly lost its potential.
