Volodymyr Brynzak, the President of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine commented on the decision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to boycott all sports events on the territory of Russia.
This is reported by the “Soviet Sport” publication.
Brynzak said that the decision not to participate in the competition was taken at the ministry level.
“Our team will not participate in the World Cup in Tyumen,” – he said.
He added that the decision was not some sort of an order. Representatives of the national teams met with Minister Zhdanov and discussed all the subtleties and nuances of the situation.
On question whether the President of the Ukrainian biathlon consulted his athletes, he replied:
“I did not consult the athletes, because I have not yet seen them. Now they are in Oslo”, - concluded Brynzak.
