Ukrainian company Ugears is ready to supply the first batch of its wooden construction sets from Disney.
This was said by Gennady Shestak, co-founder of the company, in an interview by delo.ua.
Construction sets of Ugears will be sold in 700 Disney branded stores as early as November 2018.
“We developed five models for Disney (four have already been approved with Disney). They gave samples, and we developed the mechanics of models,” – Shestak said.
According to the co-founder of the company, Disney itself turned to them with a proposal for cooperation. Negotiations lasted eight months, and Ugears had to undergo a hard audit.
“Everything was checked – the company's financial statements, workplaces. The employees were interviewed without the presence of line managers. It was necessary to meet about 400 requirements for the audit. And we passed it without a single remark. Auditors, to put it mildly, were surprised,” – the co-founder of the company noted.
Shestak emphasized that Ugears is the first company whose brand (for the last 22 years) Disney agreed to leave on the packaging next to its own.
“We even sacrificed part of the profits. It is very important for the recognition of our product and our country.” – Gennady Shestak said.
