During the special session of the OSCE Council in Vienna, 40 countries condemned the “elections” held in the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
This message was made by the permanent representative of Ukraine to international organizations in Vienna, Igor Prokopchuk. This is reported by Ukrinform.
“Today there was unanimity in the estimates. The position of 40 delegations was expressed, which clearly condemned the holding of so-called elections in the occupied part of the Donbass. A very clear position was expressed: what happened yesterday is a gross and defiant violation of the Minsk agreements, sovereignty and legislation of Ukraine. For the OSCE countries, these illegal “elections” have no legal consequences,” – Prokopchuk said, commenting on the special meeting of the Permanent Council of the organization.
During the meeting, all delegations clearly noted that legal and legitimate elections can be held only if they comply with Ukrainian legislation and OSCE standards. And the holding of elections must be preceded by the creation of all necessary security conditions.
