Next year, the AFU need funding at a minimum level of 112 billion UAH.
This was reported in an interview with BBC News Ukraine by Viktor Muzhenko, the Chief of General Staff – Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“We decided that this should be an amount of about 112 billion USD. This is the minimum need for the army. And yet we are given only 82 billion UAH. This is clearly not enough to keep the AFU in a combat-capable state, I'm not even talking about increasing the capabilities,” – he said.
According to the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, there is currently an outflow of military personnel, including due to logistical obstacles, which will have serious consequences for the combat readiness of the APU.
Muzhenko explained that new contracted soldiers are being recruited due to dismissal. They need to be prepared, but they also leave after a certain period.
“Our research shows that the basic cash collateral for the servicemember should be 15 thousand (UAH). Now it is 7 thousand UAH, this figure should grow a minimum twice. Then it will be a decent level of material compensation for all those inconveniences and the tension that they are experiencing,” – he said.
