It is planned to increase the cost of travel in public transport in Mariupol, local journalists report.
According to Vitaly Donev, the head of the “Mariupol Tram and Trolley Bus” Public Utility, the fare will rise in price only in public transport. The issue will be discussed at the next session of the city council.
He noted that increasing the cost of travel is a necessary measure. The increase in the cost of travel is justified by the increase in the cost of fuel, electricity, and increased wages for drivers, check takers and other specialists of the utility. He also noted that due to a large staff shortage in management, they are forced to improve working conditions and raise salaries for employees.
After the increase, the fare on buses will be 6 UAH, and in trams and trolley buses – 5 UAH.
At the same time, the benefits in municipal transport for the relevant categories of citizens are preserved, and the price of tickets will remain the same – 250 UAH. For students and schoolchildren a privilege will also remain, which now amounts to 50% of the cost with the provision of the document.
