Kindergarten "Mir" became the first preschool educational institution of the European type in the Donetsk region.

Completely converted room with a universal design, where children with special needs can feel comfortable – this is no longer a dream of a dozen moms from Konstantinovka. Such an inclusive group was opened in the preschool educational institution No. 31 “Mir". This garden was the first in the city where special children can be with their peers and the only one in Ukraine where the UNDP program "Promoting Integration Policies and Services for People with Disabilities in Ukraine" is being implemented.

- The team of the project "The children's kindergarten “MIR” – is simple and comfortable for everyone" presented the opening of the current form of organization of children with disabilities in the establishment of pre-school education – an inclusive group. By the grant funds, the furniture of universal design was purchased: cabinets without doors, tables on casters of various shapes, games of skill. That is, the group created comfortable conditions for kids. They can move the furniture by themselves, as they need. 125 thousand UAH were spent for the implementation of this project. The group will consist of 15 children, - Oksana Korneeva, the head of the kindergarten and project manager, commented.

Part of the furniture for the group and the eye simulator was purchased by the sponsor – Dmitry Shtager, the chairman of the public organization “Confident hearts”.

Parents, teachers from city and regional educational structures, as well as a representative of the UNDP came to the opening of the group.

- From now on, education for children in a kindergarten in Konstantinovka takes into account the individual characteristics and needs of each child,” – Marina Lebed, the communications specialist of the Program "Promoting Integration Policies and Services for People with Disabilities in Ukraine", said. – Thanks to the project "The children's kindergarten “MIR” – is simple and comfortable for everyone", implemented under the joint UNDP, WHO and ILO program "Promoting Integration Policies and Services for People with Disabilities in Ukraine", equipment and games of skill for the work of an inclusive group were purchased. And also a database of children of Konstantinovka was created, which recommended this form of education. Based on its own experience in the course of the project, the kindergarten team will present a model of an inclusive preschool institution by the end of this year. It will be taken as a basis for implementation in other kindergartens in Ukraine. This will attract more children to pre-school educational institutions.
