A few weeks ago, the European Court recognized a moratorium on the sale of land as a violation of human rights. However, according to the head of the opposition government, Borys Kolesnikov, the Ukrainian government does not react in any way to the opinion of international organizations.
“As for the land, it is necessary to approach it carefully. It is necessary not only to abolish the moratorium. Owners of land and tenants must take 36 months to receive a monthly rent (as for renting an apartment), according to an estimate adopted by European or international institutions. During 36 months of the transition period, each month not later than the 10th day receiving a payment, the owners will be able to feel the value of their property. Unfortunately, such relations have not been developed over 27 years,” – the opposition politician said on the air of the program “Vidpovidalnist” (transl. Responsibility).
“After these 36 months, a person has the right to make a choice: to leave this land for himself and hand it over to children and grandchildren and receive a small monthly income, or sell this land. Our position is simple. The moratorium can be canceled with the simultaneous adoption of a law on the transition period, which includes three years with a mandatory lease of land with a monthly payment for each hectare, which will allow people to feel like real owners,” – Borys Kolesnikov added.
