The existing gas reserves in Ukraine with current production volumes will be sufficient for 15 years. This was told on the air of one of the Ukrainian TV channels by Yuri Vitrenko, the sales manager of Naftogaz.
“We have enough reserves for about 15 years already existing, not to mention that we can actually increase the resource base,” – he said.
According to the top manager, currently about 20 billion cubic meters of gas are produced on the territory of Ukraine, 15.5 billion of which is accounted for by Ukrgazvidobuvannya, where Naftogaz has a majority stake. The rest is produced by private companies, including Ukrnafta.
Vitrenko also clarified that this figure could be significantly increased.
“Last year was a record year – we increased production at the highest level in the last 23 years in our company Ukrgazvidobuvannia. There, the growth was approximately 4.4%. That is, we have a huge potential for increasing production. If we look at the ratio of production volumes and reserves that we have, we will see that this ratio is the best among almost all European countries and many countries in the world,” – he stressed.
