15-year-old Marta Kostyuk became the youngest participant of the WTA Premier series in Stuttgart since 1995.
In the final qualification, the Ukrainian scored a victory in three sets over Alize Cornet from France in the first number of seeds. The first competitor Kostyuk in the “basis” will be Antonia Lottner from Germany, the owner of Wild Card.
Thanks to the victory over Cornet, Kostyuk nearly broke the record of two tennis players. In 1995, Swiss Martina Hingis and German Marlene Weingartner played in the main draw of the tournament in Stuttgart. Both were 15 years old, but by day they were younger than the Ukrainian at the time of participating in competitions.
