The fire area in the exclusion zone near the Chernobyl nuclear-power plant was reduced to 1.5 hectares.

This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

It is reported that its liquidation continues, even with the involvement of aircraft.

“As of 8:00 on June 7, two separate cells are extinguished on a total area of ​​about 1.5 hectares,” – the rescuers said.

The aircraft of the SES (two aircraft and a helicopter) made 69 water discharges (318 tons) from the beginning of the work.

Radiation background, according to the agency, is within the norm, in particular:

In the capital of Ukraine, the radiation background is 12 microR / h (safe level is up to 30 microR / h).

In Chernobyl, the radiation background is 31 microR / h (safe level is up to 50 microR / h).

At the industrial site of the Chernobyl nuclear-power plant, the radiation background is 51.6 microR / h (safe level is up to 140 mcR / h).
