Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers with a proposal to amend the procedure for calculating time in Ukraine.
“The procedure for calculating time on the territory of Ukraine is determined by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 05.05.1996 No. 509: the time of the second time zone (Kiev time), with an annual clockwise move on the last Sunday in March at 3:00 AM one hour ahead and on the last Sunday in October at 4:00 AM back one hour,” – the department informed.
It was also pointed out that the same procedure for calculating time is valid in the territory of the European Union.
“Ukraine has taken a course toward European integration, which provides for the implementation of the European legislation. The existing procedure for calculating time on the territory of Ukraine is optimal, consistent with the international practice of calculating time. It contributes to the adaptation of the entire range of international economic, cultural and other relations, meets its geographical location. Taking into account the abovementioned, if the EU decides to abolish the daylight saving time, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade will apply to the Cabinet about the possibility of making appropriate changes to the Order,” – the ministry added.
