Vladimir Groysman, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, said that the rise in price of gas is a forced step, since Ukraine earlier had assumed such an obligation when borrowing money from international partners, Ukrinform reports.
“This is an obligation that we must fulfill today, taken not now, not today, not yesterday, and not the day before yesterday, but at least 10 years ago. But then it was taken, money was taken for it, and the obligation was not fulfilled, thus undermining the confidence in Ukraine. Time determines when we have to make appropriate decisions, but every decision has its own reason,” – Groysman said.
At the same time, he noted that the President Leonid Kuchma had handed over the country with a debt of $ 12.5 billion in 2005, and in 2014 the state's internal and external debt reached $ 50 billion, which should be serviced and returned.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Energy had confirmed the nearest rise in the price of gas for the population.
