Art historians call the personality of Johann Georg Pinsel mystical – neither the details of his biography, nor how he looked are known. At the same time, Ukrainians truly can be proud of their talented countryman, who is called the “Ukrainian Michelangelo” in Europe.
Pinsel’s sculptures made of lime fascinate – every muscle is precisely expressed, and the emotionality of his work is compared with the kiss of God. Now the work of Pinsel can be seen in the museums of Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil. One of the assets of the Ukrainian art space is the fact that Pinsel's sculptures have already managed to conquer the Louvre.
Residents of Druzhkovka also managed to touch the work of the Galician sculptor. From 12 to 13 November, the project “Under Pinsels’s Star” helped to plunge into the atmosphere of baroque art, combining it with authentic folk art under the exhibition “Heritage”. The project will visit seven Ukrainian cities. Presentations of the project have already been held in Sumy, Kharkov and Rubezhnoye in the Lugansk region.
In Donetsk region, Druzhkovka was the first city that could see “Under Pinsels’s Star” On November 14, the works of the legendary sculptor will be available in Dobropolye, 16 in Kurakhovo and 18 in Mariupol.
Unfortunately, residents of the east of Ukraine could not see firsthand the work of Pinsel within the project. According to the organizers, the sculptures cannot be transported because of their fragility, so the audience was able to learn about the work of the talented Galician using banners and a documentary.
"We want to present this project not only to the cultural space of the east of Ukraine, but, above all, to the youth. And also we want to form a communicative platform between the east and west of Ukraine with the help of our work,” – Tatiana Farina, coordinator of the project “Under Pinsels’s Star”, said.
The unity of the east and the west was also supported by the artist from Druzhkovka, the Acting Head of the Donetsk Regional Art Museum, Vladimir Piven, presenting his picture to the project, which in the future would travel along with the expositions of “Under Pinsels’s Star”.
