According to Interfax-Ukraine, Andrey Parubiy, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, said that the decision to renew the special status for the Donetsk and Lugansk regions would be taken in October and would depend on international partners.
“Before the expiration date, we will consult this year – is there a need to renew for another year, or is there no such need anymore. This will depend to a great extent on the position of our international partners. Of course: it is extremely important for us to withhold sanctions against Russia,” – he said.
Parubiy also recalled that the renewal of the law had no influence last year.
“It is because Putin did not plan and does not plan to implement any agreements. Unfortunately, then many of our colleagues very emotionally protested against the renewal. This year has showed: no changes have taken place,” – the spokesperson explained.
