As of August 15, 73.3% of the housing stock and 76.9% of social facilities were prepared for the heating season. This was said at the press conference by Larisa Guseva, the Deputy Director of the Development of Housing and Public Services Department of the Donetsk Regional State Administration. And although 530 million UAH were spent on preparatory work, the problems of front-line cities will remain unresolved.
For example, in Mayorsk and Zaitsevo, where the central heating system is completely destroyed, the people will have to heat their homes with electric heaters this winter. All what was promised the residents was the connection additional power supplies and applying reduced tariff for electricity.
The heating season will be equally problematic for the residents of Mariinka and Krasnogorovka, where potbelly stoves are used for heating. According to the regional program “Heat of the Donetsk region”, these cities will be transferred to electric heating in the future, but now there are no resources for implementing such a project.
At the same time, as the tariffs for electricity are increasing, the price of heating and water supply will be also increased. The tariffs are already being revised by water service companies of Bakhmut, Kramatorsk, Slavyansk, Svyatogorsk, Mariupol and the public utility company “Water of Donbass”.
In addition, tariffs for heating will be raised in Mariupol, Dobropolye, Kramatorsk, Uglegorsk and Kurakhovo.
“For example, the “Heating Network of Kramatorsk” Company will increase the tariff by more than a quarter – by 27.5%. If in the past heating season residents paid 1241.91 UAH / Gcal, or 36.81 UAH. / sq. m, then one need to prepare for new rates: 1584.02 and 46.96 UAH respectively. Will the services be more proper after this – remains a rhetorical question,” – the message said.
