Donbass Water Company reported that the most important water supply facilities in the Donetsk region are threatened with power supply disconnection.
The corresponding divisions have already been received by the company's divisions: the Regional Directorate of Pipeline Operation and the regional production departments (Pokrovskoye, Slavyanskoye, Chasov-Yarskoye and Mariupolskoye). The notification from Ukrinterenergo and PJSC DTEK – Energougol said about the power supply disconnection will take place from April 1, 2019.
That is, the disconnection threatens the filtering and pumping stations of the Seversky Donets-Donbass water pipeline, which are the only source of water supply in the region, providing it to 3 million 265 thousand people.
The reason for the possible disconnection is the debt of the utility company Donbass Water to energy supplying enterprises in the amount of 1 billion UAH.
It is reported that a critical situation has arisen due to a number of objective factors, in connection with which the Donbass Water Company has not been able to make payments for electricity in a timely manner.
It is noted that in the near future a way out of this situation should be found. Otherwise, the disconnection of water supply will have severe economic and social consequences for the entire region.
