75 years ago the city survived the occupation.

On September 6, Konstantinovka celebrates the Day of the Liberation of the city from the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War. 75 years ago, Konstantinovka survived the occupation. The liberation of the city then passed with great losses. The commander of the 135rd brigade, Beznoshchenko, described the event in his diaries as follows: “Up to 2,500 soldiers and officers were killed, 400 people were taken prisoner, 29 tanks, more than 200 guns and mortars were destroyed, and 109 weapons were seized by serviceable”.

Thematic events are held at schools on this day.

Annually on September 6, the journalists of the city organization of Konstantinovka called “National Union of Journalists of Ukraine” (NUJU) go to the Komsomolska gill to honour the memory to all victims of fascism. Now a modest monument is established on the outskirts of the city, along Demeshchenko Street, in the place where from 1941 to 1943 half-dead tortured in the concentration camp residents of Konstantinovka and surrounding villages and towns were buried.

The journalists of the NUJU became the initiators of the fact that on

the site of the death of hundreds of people there was a memorial sign.

The chairman of the journalist organization in Konstantinovka, on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the city, invited his colleagues to hold a moment of silence of all the victims of fascism, and afterwards laid flowers to the monument.
