Training of the HC Donbass for the new hockey season – 2018/19 began yesterday, on July 23. There was a meeting of the team and the coaching staff.
The main coach of the Donetsk club Julius Supler arrived in Druzhkovka, shared the first impressions of the city with the press service of the Donetsk club, and told about the plans for the training of the team:
- The situation is fine in the city. I was surprised by the ice arena – the building looks very good. We walked around, saw over everything inside – everything is new. Of course, the arena is small, I would like more tribunes, so that spectators would come and enjoy ice hockey.
One can always successfully play in a small arena, and then after the victory, raising the level of skill of the guys, one can play in big arenas. This is what we will strive for: to fulfill not only the tasks of the club, but also to raise guys, so that they move forward. The conditions are simple, but I liked them. Regarding players, I will say that one can see the sincerity in their eyes; one can see that they are young and full of energy; so on the first day I like everything.
We will have a preparatory drawing stage “on ground”. Let's see how the guys individually prepared for the start of the season. Then will be a medical examination. Basic training is a combination of ice training and “ground”. On July 27, we will already go out on the ice. Then, daily two-time training will take place: in the morning by groups, in the evening – general one. At the end of the module we will hold bilateral meetings. After the end of the cycle, we will go to Belarus.
Borys Kolesnikov, the President of the HC Donbass, told the media about the first newcomers of the Donbass and viewing the candidates for the team:
- All new names in the team will be known closer to the Salei Cup. Of those players with whom we already have a contract, I can name Sevastyan Karpenko, we are also glad to see the return of Vladimir Cherdak to the team. Also, Vitaly Kiryushchenkov and Yuri Silnitsky will be preparing for the season with us. Yuri Silnitsky played for the Donbass in the Youth Hockey League and the Kontinental Hockey League.
Now there are 36 hockey players at the disposal of our head coach Julius Supler, he will approve 25 of them plus 3 backstops. I wish all the guys good luck in the fight for the place in the roster.
