On Friday, September 14, Ukraine and the EU signed a memorandum on granting a tranche of one billion euros to the country.

In turn, Vladimir Groysman, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, during a meeting with Valdis Dombrovskis, the Vice President of the European Commission, Ukraine and the EU are starting the new, the fourth program of macro-financial assistance, Government portal reports.
“We feel support. For us, the implementation of the objectives of the Association Agreement with the EU is extremely important. We are continuing structural changes that also allow us to approach the EU standards,” – Groysman said.
The Head of Government stressed that Ukraine considers the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU as a key reference point for changes in the state and continues reforms that will make it possible to approach the EU standards in all fields of life.
“I am happy to be in Kiev and discuss our joint work, our steps to deepen cooperation. We are signing an agreement today (on macro-financial assistance), and I would like to emphasize that Ukraine demonstrates great progress on the path of reforms,” – Valdis Dombrovskis said.
The parties stressed that the macro-financial assistance program was a component of the cooperation policy.
It is also known that under the old macro-financial assistance program, Ukraine received two tranches of 1.2 billion euros instead of the originally planned 1.8 billion euros. The third tranche was canceled due to the fact that Ukraine had fulfilled 17 conditions for granting assistance out of 21 stipulated.
