In order for the Russian language to be not recognized as community one on the territory of the Donetsk region, the Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk region should cancel the decision of the regional council.
As far back as in 2012, the Regional Council of Donetsk recognized the Russian language as the community language in the Donetsk region, by its decision No. 6 / 14-346 “On the implementation of requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On the Basics of the State Language Policy”.
At the same time, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on 28.02.2018 in the case No. 1-1 / 2018 found the law inappropriate to the Constitution of Ukraine. However, none of the officials in the Donetsk region took any measures to remove this status from the Russian language.
A claim was brought in the interests of the state on recognizing the decision unlawful and invalid on the elimination of the revealed violations by the Prosecutor's Office of the Donetsk region in the Donetsk district administrative court.
Also, in order to cancel illegal decisions of the territorial councils adopted on the above issues, Volnovakhsky, Konstantinovsky, Slavyansky and Kramatorsky local prosecutor’s offices have filed 6 lawsuits.
At present, the claims have been sent to the court.
