An art object at the entrance to the city from the Mariupol-Mangush route will be one of the gifts for the City Day for Mariupol, along with the reconstruction of the Mira Avenue, the Greek Square, the Theater Square and the adjacent buildings.
It is planned to create sites with the name of the city in Greek and Ukrainian languages on both sides of the roadbed. And on the dividing strip there will be a sculpture of Metropolitan Ignatius, the founder of the city.
The installations will have rest areas with trees and shrubs and modern illumination, powered by solar panels.
At the moment the active works are being underway on the road. The site with the name of the city in Greek is already complete, next week there will be a playground with the Ukrainian name of the city, and the base for the sculpture is being prepared.
According to the town clerk, the project cost the city 6 million UAH, and the idea was offered by the activists of Mariupol.
The official opening of the entrance group of art objects will take place on the day of the 20th anniversary of the canonization of Metropolitan Ignatius – November 15.
