As a result of the conflict in the East of Ukraine, 1.5 million internally displaced persons were registered.
This was reported by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) – the UN Migration Agency.
As a result of the information received by IOM, the situation with the employment of settlers is worsening in Ukraine. Thus, in June of this year 42% of respondents were employed, which is 6% less than in March of this year.
The average income of internally displaced persons continued to fall from December last year. As of June 2018, it fell to less than 2,100 UAH, or $ 77 per month, the IOM report says.
“Ukraine is going through the biggest crisis associated with the displacement of people in Europe, since the crisis in the Balkans. More than 3.4 million conflict-affected people in Ukraine need humanitarian assistance,” – Thomas Lothar Weiss, the head of the IOM Mission in Ukraine, emphasized.
