Alexander Vilkul, the presidential candidate from the "Opposition bloc", in an interview with the famous journalist Dmitry Gordon described a little-known fact of his biography. In 2014, Vilkul learned that his friend from Krivoy Rog, Lieutenant Colonel of the National Guard, Alexander Piskun, was seriously wounded in a battle near Lisichansk, injured his spine and was captured unconscious. Piskun was shown on Russian television as the most senior (at that time) Ukrainian soldier who was captured in LNR. Learning of this, Vilkul immediately decided to go to release Piskun.
“We took the ambulance, found a contact in a hospital in Lysychansk and drove under fire through all checkpoints, telling that we were going to pick up a woman in labor and transport her to Severodonetsk,” - Alexander Vilkul said.
Despite all the risks, the operation was successful. Later, from the territory controlled by Ukraine, the wounded man was taken by helicopter to the hospital of Dnieper. And it saved his life. “Thank God, he is alive and well,” - Vilkul added. - It was scary, everything shot and exploded. But we don’t give up our people”.
The opposition leader also frankly commented on the election campaign of the current president Poroshenko and his countryman from Krivoy Rog, Vladimir Zelensky.
