Donetsk International Airport (DAP) named after Sergei Prokofiev – this is how the notorious DAP is officially called.
Today, the network has a video, where one can see only the ruins of the airport. This is what it became in 2014-2015 after 242 days of fighting for this territory.
Many residents of the Donetsk region, and especially residents of Donetsk, remember the airport as quite different. We recall that it was built in the distant 1933, and then it was called “Stalino”.
In 2012 the airport was reconstructed, another terminal was built, and then the name of the composer Sergey Prokofiev was given to the air gates of Donetsk.
972 million UAH were spent on the reconstruction of the DAP.
The airport accepted all types of aircraft, and the length of the runway was 4 km. The terminal capacity reached 3,100 passengers per hour.
On May 6, 2014, by order of the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine, the reception and rushing out of aircraft were temporarily suspended. Since June 3, 2014, the DAP was officially closed, since May 26, 2014 the defense of the Donetsk airport (DAP) began, which lasted 242 days.
